PSA: Please Ignore John Chiv

This Public Service Announcement is directed specifically to those who are invested in the Humboldt justice system right now and may not be familiar with John Chiv’s work and his role in the community.

His views are his own.  He manages comments meaning is site is limited to only those comments he wishes us to see.

a) He is anti-SJW (Social Justice Warrior).  Here is a recent post about (I believe) a person who was injecting a drug in public near local businesses and was caught on tape.

His comment… “SJWs need to stand up to the drug dealers and those that contribute to this problem. They don’t, they attack those of us that did not cause it.”

This framework is critical to understanding his point of view.  Anti- Social Justice Warrior sentiment began with a small but vocal and unashamed segment of society.  Generally these voices are anonymous or hidden behind a handle.  I am not sure if John is aware of the background of the anti-SJW movement, but for John and other readers, here is a thoughtful and inspired (if dense) review of the use of “SJW” from a Fred Clark, a white evangelical liberal blogger.

What ‘SJW’ really means  (Fred Clark | September 13, 2016)

No, ‘SJW’ is not used to deflate pompous Comstockian moralists. That’s not how it’s used at all.  (Fred Clark | September 14, 2016)

b) He is vocal member of at least two local sites – his own and The Humboldt Consequential’s jihad against a local foundation’s funding of  True North Organizing Network.  From their site

“The True North Organizing Network develops leadership in communities with common values across Tribal Lands, Del Norte, and Humboldt Counties. True North supports families, elders, youth, and individuals of diverse faith traditions, races, cultures, and economic capacities working together for powerful change. United, using the power of relationships and a disciplined community organizing model, True North leaders are courageously challenging social, economic, and environmental injustice in our region.”

His latest post  on this subject was just yesterday and he asked the pressing question…”The Business of Race” brought to you by HAF ,True North Organizing Network and who else?”

The full title of the flyer is “The Business of Race:  Improving Our Business Climate by Welcoming Our Changing Community.”  (Aside, please read Thadeous Greenson’s take on his personal take on diversity here.  Business interests is one of the last reasons we share our community which belongs to all of us.  But sadly, this is how an inclusive message gets across to those whose first concern may be their bottom line.)

From the Equity Alliance’s site:

“The Equity Alliance of the North Coast (Equity Alliance) was created by local organizations, institutions, and community members who want our communities to be more inclusive of people who have been marginalized based particularly on race or ethnicity. The basic premise is increasing access to opportunities with good outcomes afforded equitably to everyone. Partners and supporters recognize we are operating from a societal blueprint that has historically excluded particular groups from some opportunities we all need to thrive. This initiative will increase practical understanding of individual and structural exclusion, apply best practices to achieve inclusion, and build a diverse network of peers working toward a common goal of equity – all while incorporating local voices and expertise to learn from and engage out-groups in the process.”

Are you noticing a pattern here?  It seems to me, seeking equity is seen, in and of itself, as unfair to those who will be less than welcome because of the extra welcoming heaped on those who have been marginalized particularly due to race or ethnicity.

c) Finally, John posts last night this “If the APD does not arrest and charge Parris Wright and the Castillo brothers immediately for “assault and battery” on Kyle we plan press charges to compel the APD to perform their duties in a responsible manner. “

This is from Kyle Zoellner’s uncle.  Kyle Zoellner is one of a handful of people found to have motivation to have killed David Josiah Lawson, but as of yet there has not been enough evidence to charge him or anyone else.  So, here is John simply following the path of justice as he sees it?  Kyle got beat up.  There was testimony by the person doing the beating to that effect.  Why isn’t the APD “performing their duties in a responsible manner“.

Maybe because this misses a pretty significant point.  We do not have a suspect in custody for the murder of Josiah Lawson.  First things first?  Or, put another way, black lives, Josiah’s life, matters.  Let’s investigate assault after we find Josiah’s killer.  Please?  It’s the right thing to do.

More from John Chiv’s totally not racist comment zone:

Post:  “So supportive people are defined as Elijah Chandler, Tina Sampay, and others still claiming this was a racially based crime without evidence and still maligning this community? “

Thanks for posting a photo of the “real” Josiah. Liberal outlets always show some kind of baby photo, making the deceased look like a child. Typical. But now???? Now we can see the real LL Dead J.

Problem:  If in this picture you don’t see a young handsome individual taking a selfy as people are want to do, maybe you should attend the implicit bias discussion sponsored by the Equity Alliance above.

see, the thing is: When dumb racist blacks label our entire community to be “racist”… the community will fight back against such bullshit. We WILL point out that dumb, racist blacks are dumb , racist & black. If dumb, racist blacks don’t like that… WHO CARES? This is OUR community, not theirs.

Go home, dumb racist murderers. GO HOME.

Problem:  I’ll just let this one speak for itself.  I think this is an example of explicit bias, not implicit.

Barbara Billings May 18, 2017 at 7:33 AM

Chandler is still trYing to get his 10 min of fame. Maybe when he fesses up to stabbing his bestie, he will get the attention he is ting so hard to get for himself. (As that posy being shared says)

Problem:  Assigning guilt (conveniently to an African American) – if you know something, the information should be given to the APD, otherwise it is inflammatory and wrong to spread innuendos.

Does no one else in the community think it’s very odd that Elijah has made sure to be all involved in this? I noticed he was with this young man’s mother the day she was speaking with the DA and I sure hope he wasn’t in the room when they were speaking about an active case. It’s very odd that he has done so much media coverage about this. His whole character is off and what I see is that he likes the lime light. Looking at his Facebook you can see he is going for the whole wannabe Abercrombie and finch model thing. But why isn’t anyone else aside from you asking these important questions? Have we become scared of looking “racist” because we want to know the truth? It’s a shame that this man has passed and what’s wrost is one of his friends know his did this and is covering up. Their slogan is “brothers before others” and it shows they are sticking to that

Problem:  Assigning guilt (conveniently to an African American) – No evidence here, just “his whole character is off”.  Hmmm.  Seems like a superficial judgement to me.  Important questions indeed!  Again, if you have evidence, it belongs with the APD.  They may not have time to take your statement though b/c they may be investigating the assault on Kyle Zoellner.

I have been ignoring his blog as I have found his point of view disturbing.
I really appreciate Thaddeus’ editorial. I have brown skin family, too. We are all human no matter what our ethnicity.

  2. Henchman Of Justice says:

Back and forth, back and forth.

HOJ believes this statement here, [His comment… “SJWs need to stand up to the drug dealers and those that contribute to this problem. They don’t, they attack those of us that did not cause it.”] is not a huge lie with all due respect, BUT…….

Who’s to say that the way It deals with people one-on-one hasn’t caused someone to shoot up drugs due to mental health conditions that were caused by It and It’s defamatory retoric that plays battleship with hipocrisy while caring not for those It detests.

Censorship is bad, really bad……. What is worse is when two sites that sensor go back and forth back and forth like boxers in the ring trying to decipher which media outlet is just a little bit better than the other because of censoring just a little bit less.

As far as picture, nothing wrong or eye catching, but It has a Curly Q bias towards dress codes that It transitioned toward to find errs in the way we all dress, apparantly.

Wondering how It can decipher a thug, a criminal from Itself, knowing It will never castigate Itself because It is not black on the outside.

Funny It is, but sad too……..

  3. MOLA42 says:

What can I say? I used to be one of Mr. Chiv’s most vocal supporters. Unfortunately, he only listens to praise from people who don’t know anything about either the Justice System or Journalism and scorns any kind of criticism, no matter how well intended.

Mr. Chiv is a lost cause who had potential and squandered it. I was done with him a long time ago.

  4. John Fullerton says:

I must say Jon that this is one of your most mean spirited posts ever.

Having a bad day ? Boss yelled at you at work ? Disappointing.

    1. Henchman Of Justice says:

Mean-spirited is one of those, “it takes one to know one comments” because bloggers are saying that they no one in “It” as being “The Subject”…….of mean spiritednesses.

What was so mean anyhow? After all, it’s not as if this article has several hundred anonymous’s putting pressure on Kym Kemp to do an all-out sortie on one person working at the Loco because facts were pissing people off…….. And look at the domino effect and the information that people are not turning a blind eye towards any longer…….Karma.

    2. Henchman Of Justice says:

How many customers have gone elsewhere because of tax filed paperwork that is wrong?

    3. John Fullerton, I appreciate your reaction. It’s honorable to support a friend or supporter. I also understand that both you and I believe in the phrase “with liberty and justice for all”.

I wonder if you believe we are there yet, or if it is a continual work in progress? If it is a work in progress, what do we do to balance liberty of freeseach with the clear motivation of those with motive to kill David Josiah Lawson to muddy the waters?

What about linking to a a post John himself understands is fake and then not commenting when people reference that Craigslist post? What about the clear racist comments that John Chiv had to approve?

But on this I agree I wasn’t fair. It isn’t a burden that John Chiv should carry alone, however, he does not allow opposing views on his site and without the ability to rebut what he is saying on his blog, I think it’s entirely fair to be able to express my opinion elsewhere.

John Fullerton, We have a systemic problem of racist speech in our County which is worse than anywhere I’ve ever lived. Maybe you have become accustomed by it or believe that electing Jim Howard to the City Council somehow absolves our County from any further need to address this issue.

Again John Fullerton, John Chiv alone is not the source of racism in Humboldt more the sole enabler. It goes much deeper than that.

I would have hoped that Eureka civic leaders, especially from the Republican side of the aisle, because yes, John Fullerton, like John Chiv, many or most of the racist dialog will come from conservatives, would have spoken up more clearly that we need to find the killer of David Josiah Lawson, and that the clear motivation for the killing should help direct public discussion. Not character assassination based on stereotypes or race or whether or not HSU students deserve justice or the have the right to speak out in this community just as much as we do.

Humboldt is ours, it’s not yours, it’s not mine, owning land here does not give you any more right for liberty or justice than anyone else, even if that person is a student who goes home for the summers, or even if that student is a person of color.

(Edited to correct Jim Howard’s name.)

      1. Henchman Of Justice says:

Not to beat a dead horse, but prior to Josiah, what incident is being used as “racist” for any “agenda”.

Just a thought because if racism is the game, then why is sexism being acted upon by “The Law” in not arresting a hispanic/latina female for Assault and Battery in a brown versus black scenario?

And while at it, if racism is the game, then no need for black eyewitnesses to lie about facts (like testifying that a white dude said nothing racist, but was actually polite – whereas a latina/hispanic allegedly made “racist remarks” and “wished the deceased dead several times)

Games – what about protecting family members of public servants locally, been going on for generations. The fact that most local public employee families are white can make any situation susceptible to racism claims in a county mostly caucasian……..and native american, and running “the system show” to boot.

This death is a bugaboo for HOJ……..a murderer is on the loose, and so too a conspirator(s).

What is the latest update by the investigation team regarding the fiber, the smudge print on the knife, whether or not the knife was actually the knife used in the stabbing, etc…….

Fiber – sachel, carpet, linen, gloves
Print – oil, dna, match to system, etc…

Need more arrests – everybody who got physical

Need more down votes, verification that facts piss people off.

      2. Henchman Of Justice says:

        Who is John Howard?

Jim Howard was a black, shoe shining city council member…….a real cool dude to boot, no pun intended…….who admitted he did not experience racism…….but maybe Liberals locally labeled Jim as a water carrying conservative who turned a blind eye to racism (ridiculous, but that is how the local grass rooters sprout 2 party system politics)……..

Funny how Matt Pereira all of a sudden gets a cameo appearance for a local bank after Sophie Pereira of the Arcata city council makes Blasphemous statements indicting the whole Community for Josiah’s death……. HOJ doesn’t have social race relation problems or fears, nor do many other folks in Humboldt County, but don’t let the liberal media or the conservative media have you believe otherwise…… Or believe that the whole Community was the cause of this situation….. Councilmember Pereira is unqualified for the duties and obligations that she owes the residents of Arcata and the best thing that she can do as a concerned citizen is to put pressure on her local Police Department, the County DA, all investigation teams on this murder, etc….to do their goddamn job and to do it right, for there is more of a shitstorm ahead for a murder based on the premise of protecting Public Employee family members, as opposed to racism that is not proven to be existent between a black man and a white man but rather a black man and a Latina/ Hispanic female.

        Liars love to lie!

  5. Henchman Of Justice says:

Zoellner’s dad is a county tech planner 2…….watching the wheel of “protecting family of publuc servants”………what Humboldt does which proves……

There ain’t no such thing as justice and any person who thinks they’re going to get justice has their head so far up there ass hole that a forever perpetual solar eclipse is “in effect”.

The slow trickle down to disaster and destruction of the United States of America because the three tiered system of governance is FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Jim Howard not John Howard. My mistake and thank you for pointing that out HOJ. To be clear, Jim lived a long and honorable life, a signficant portion of it invested in public service, I am by no means trying to diminish his accomplishments. By mistaking his name, I did a little bit and I’m sorry. It was definitely not my intention.

    1. Henchman Of Justice says:

HOJ believes JY because getting a name wrong happens to all of us and because the reference was not mean or diminishing, just a simple correction needed, that is all……..not a fubar moment.

    2. Henchman Of Justice says:

A few years ago, HOJ emailed Arcata councilmember Paul Pitino, but wrote Rick Pitino (a mistake caused by being a ncaa basketball fan and cognitive tripping).

Mr. Pitino corrected HOJ……it was funny as we both laughed it off. Pitino is a popular name, wcis.
